Educational Department
The Design
museum Gent attempts to fulfill three basic functions: acquisition and preservation,
academic and educational. In other words, in addition to being an academic and
conservation institute, it is also an educational medium.
Our educational work involves activities intended to narrow the gap between the
public and the museum.
We want to involve the public in the life of the museum, to help it in the satisfaction
of its curiosity, stimulate it into activity of its own and into creativity.
The approach taken to achieve this is a thematic one, illustrating one section,
one period or one particular discipline at a time.
The educational department will be glad to help you organise your visit to the
museum by means of guided tours, worksheets, creative workshops, lectures and
so forth. It is also possible, should you request it, to put together a new programme
in consultation with this department.
