Claire Bataille (b. 1940) and Paul ibens (b. 1939) graduated from the
National Higher Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning in Antwerp
at the same time. Since 1968 they have worked together in their own design
firm. They not only design furniture, lighting and glassware, but also
fit and furnish offices, shops, restaurants and homes. Their settings
are harmonious and architectural, their furniture simple and functional,
reduced to essentials. They like a certain austerity of decoration, with
pure, traditional materials, white and grey. They are absolute masters
of their trade.
