50 years of Italian design
Since 1954, in Milano the 'Compasso d'Oro' design award is given out. These prestigious award, widely known, is meant to stimulate manufacturers and craftsmen to raise their production standards, both from a technological and aesthetical point of view.
Prominent award winners were, amongst others, Mario Bellini, Andrea Branzi,
Marcel Breuer, Achille Castiglioni, Pininfarina, Kaj Franck, Gio Ponti, Renzo
Piano, Richard Sapper and Marco Zanuso.
The exhibition shows in chronological order a selection of the entries, selected or awarded with the Compasso d'Oro between 1954 and 2004.
