29 March > 9 June 2003Gustav Beran - designs in silver
In association with the Silver, Gold and Clock Museum, Schoonhoven (Netherlands)
Gustav Beran (b. 1912), born in Austria, was a student of the renowned Viennese
designer and architect Joseph Hoffmann. From 1934 to 1977 he worked in the Netherlands.
His designs are streamlined, smooth and taut, with flowing outlines. His cutlery
designs from the 1950s still form the basis for present day stainless-steel cutlery.
The exhibition was organised in honour of Beran's 90th birthday.
