Activating neighbourhoods through design
Be inspired by Design Museum Gent's collection and design with us! In 2025, together with the inhabitants of Macharius-Heirnis, Gentbrugge, Ledeberg and Moscou, we will dive into the objects, stories and ideas from the museum collection. Take part in free activities and projects and help us connect the objects we preserve to the city today. What would you like to design? Share your ideas and get involved!
What is Design met Gent?
During the renovation of the museum and the construction of the new wing DING (Design In Gent), Design Museum Gent is moving into the city! With the programme ‘Design with Ghent’, we see the collection and exhibitions as a source of inspiration to shape the future. The first edition is about the new collection presentation (2026) and the inspiring power of what we keep.
In 2025, we explore the possibilities of our collection together with the residents and organisations of Macharius-Heirnis, Gentbrugge, Ledeberg and Moscou. We will dive into objects, stories and techniques, discover how they are relevant to today and use them as a basis to create new designs. This is how we bring the collection to life and explore new connections. Join us and get inspired!
Macharius-Heirnis: copy
In January, February and March 2025, we will work with the residents and organisations of Macharius-Heirnis. Atelier days at Inn Macharius will focus on the themes of imitation and copy: from taking inspiration from nature to reinterpreting historical styles. How can we apply these ideas and techniques today?

Gentbrugge, Ledeberg, Moscou (9050)
From April to June, we will travel to the neighbourhoods of Gentbrugge, Ledeberg, Moscou. Here we want to meet local makers and creatives and work together. Using the museum collection as inspiration, we will experiment and create new designs together.
