Volunteers wanted

The time is almost here: in October, we’ll be celebrating the reopening of Design Museum Gent. To ensure everything runs smoothly, we’re still looking for extra helping hands, both at the museum and at various locations across the city.

What can you do?

• Reception
  As a host, you’ll be a point of contact for visitors in the museum or at one of our locations in the city. You’ll welcome people, help them find their way with maps and practical information, and in doing so contribute to a warm, welcoming experience of the city and the festival. Whether they’re design fans, chance passers-by or international guests: you’ll make a difference by guiding them smoothly and warmly. So it’s best if you speak Dutch and/or English.

• Security
  As a security guard, you’ll keep an eye on things at some of our Design Fest venues around the city.

• Audience Surveyor
  As an audience surveyor, you’ll help us gather valuable information from visitors using a short questionnaire. This information can help us improve our operations. Every answer helps us take a step forward!

• Catering
  As part of the catering team, you’ll ensure that crew and artists can count on tasty food, a drink and a moment’s rest behind the scenes. You’ll help turn the catering area into a welcoming space where people can recharge their batteries. You won’t need to cook: your role involves managing the catering, setting up the buffet, washing up, tidying up, and so on.

• Assistance with workshops and events
  You’ll help out behind the scenes and on the floor during workshops, lectures, debates and events. You’ll assist with setting up and dismantling, welcome participants and lend a hand where needed.

• Technical crew
  You’ll help with the set-up and dismantling of the various exhibitions: moving objects, packing, checking their condition. Please note that the period for this role differs from the other positions. We’re looking for people who are available from 15 August to 30 September.
