Glass: a collector's unusual choice

Glass is little used as a material for contemporary design in Belgium. This limited interest in art objects in glass is mainly the result of the fact that there is virtually no training or support for it in this country.

Dirk Schrijvers has other ideas, however, and over the last 20 years has assembled a superb collection of contemporary glass of international standard. The bulk of this collection is sculptural work. The prize items are works from the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, but the objects from France, Great Britain, Poland and Sweden are also worth more than a glance.
