LifeCycles
Three-day lecture festival on architecture
LifeCycles is a brand new three-day festival full of inspiration and innovation with a focus on architecture and urban development. Through various presentations at a unique location, you will get to know the thinkers and projects of today, tomorrow and the day after. The perfect source of inspiration for every architect, designer, engineer, project developer, manager, policy maker or student.
In the exhibition hall, you will discover, among other things, the pioneering research into a circular facing brick for our new museum wing DING (Design in Ghent). Circularity, sustainability and innovation are paramount in its design and construction. Therefore, a research project was started, with the support of Vlaanderen Circulair, into a low-carbon and waste-based facade. On the first festival day, September 28, we give the stage to Ken De Cooman of BC Materials, who led this research. In his lecture he will take you through the possibilities and challenges of using waste as a building material.
