Pretty Useless
Lecture Alice Moretto
During the carnival period, Design Museum Gent shows Pretty Useless, the graduation project on confetti by Italian designer Alice Moretto, in DING Vitrine. Using a simple disposable product like confetti, Moretto questions our culture of consumption and wastefulness, as well as the traditional aesthetics associated with waste. In Italy, various paper scraps including sensitive legal documents such as ballot papers are shredded into confetti. A bag of confetti thus contains an unpredictable mix of paper shreds that offer complex cultural and political readings. With this lecture, Alice Moretto will present her project to us in depth.
