Double Victory: Two Henry Van de Velde Awards
for Gent Waste Brick for DING!
Double celebration at Design Museum Gent! Our circular facade brick, the Gent Waste Brick for DING, has won not one but two Henry Van de Velde Awards. It took the spotlight in both the Design Research and Environment categories, a fantastic recognition of the circular approach and extensive research behind the brick, made by BC materials from 63% local waste materials such as crushed concrete and ground construction glass.
These awards honour design projects that positively impact society, the environment, and the economy. The Gent Waste Brick, which requires no kiln and boasts a lower CO2 footprint thanks to its pressed production method, is a perfect example. Wondering if we will also take home the gold or the public award? We'll find out on 21 January.
