ATHENA! Clay Fair 2025

OPEN CALL – Are you a ceramic artist who enjoys pushing the boundaries between functional objects and sculptural artworks? Then this is your chance! We’re looking for experimental and unexpected pieces that transcend the ordinary. ATHENA! offers collectors, craft enthusiasts, and the general public the opportunity to discover and purchase works by both local and international ceramic artists. Expect a diverse selection of functional items, decorative pieces, and unique artworks from around 30 different makers.
Solidarity Fund
ATHENA! aims to support international artists through a solidarity system:
- 80% of the funds collected will be used to cover part of the travel and accommodation costs of international participants.
- 20% will go towards production costs at the 019 venue.
Who are we looking for?
We welcome ceramic artists with a wide range of styles: from makers of functional ceramics to artists creating decorative or purely artistic pieces. We’re eager to see your unique expression and how you continue to explore and develop it.
Practical
Your place at the fair
- When applying, let us know whether your work is best suited for display on shelves, stands, or in an exhibition-style setting.
- Placement within the overall scenography will be determined by 019, in consultation with you and considering any specific requirements.
Selling your work
- Stand display: You will manage your own stand and sell directly to visitors. Purchases can be taken home immediately.
- Scenographic display: Sales will be handled by ATHENA!, with 100% of the proceeds going to the artist. Sold works can be collected after the event.
More than just a fair
ATHENA! is not only a marketplace but also a visual experience. The unique scenography created by 019 will transform the venue into a creative and artistic journey, with all participating makers seamlessly integrated into a cohesive setting.
EXTRA: Commission by Design Museum Gent
This year, one emerging ceramic artist will be commissioned by Design Museum Gent to create a sculptural vase for their new wing, DING (Design in Gent), scheduled to open in spring 2026. The selected piece will also be featured at ATHENA!
