Studio Digitaal
In Studio Digitaal, we delve into the world of digital technology and discover how it is helping shape our design culture today. We look beyond the role of the designer and challenge you to think about how we give shape to interactions within the museum.
Studio Digitaal is located in and around the historic Salon Lodewijk XVI, the place where the 'model museum' came to life in the museum's early years. In this first phase, we make the bridge between then and now by asking what is the role of a 'model' in a digital context. Indeed, what does it actually mean to model digitally? And how can algorithmic models help imagine the future without losing sight of the past?
At the centre of the exhibition is Searcher, the result of a year-long collaboration between Searcher studio and the museum. The objective of these collaborations? To discover alternative ways to view our digital collection.
You will also get a unique look behind the scenes: you will find out how these innovative collaborations come about and the role machines and AI play in them. You will be introduced to several projects that use our data as a springboard for brand-new work, each of which questions our collection in its own way. Be inspired by the dialogue between tradition and technological innovation and discover how together we are shaping the world of tomorrow.
