Hello Robot
NEWS

Just under 90,000 visitors for Hello, Robot.

Yesterday, the exhibition Hello, Robot. Design between Human and Machine closed, after having welcomed more than 89,000 visitors. This makes it the most visited exhibition by far in the museum’s history since we started counting visitors! Schools and groups were also very interested to learn how indispensable robots are in our lives: the number of group tours increased significantly, to 921 tours. The exhibition will now travel to the Gewerbemuseum in Winterthur, MAAT in Lisbon, the Museo San Telmo in San Sebastian and the new V&A Museum in Dundee.

Whereas robots have become more accessible, more personal and even indispensable, everyone still wants to know whether our world stands to benefit from the use of robots in our daily life? The international coproduction of Design Museum Gent, Vitra Design Museum and MAK Vienna aimed to instigate a debate on the social and ethical issues associated with robotics. And the BBC feels that they definitely succeeded in their endeavour: “Like all the best exhibitions, visitors are likely to still be thinking about it months, maybe even years from now.”

ART magazine also considered it the best curated exhibition of 2017. The award will be presented to the museum in Cologne next week, in the margin of Art Cologne.
