Public Matter(s): Design and Democracy
Guided Tour
Why do we vote with a red pencil? Why are our parliament buildings so impressive? And why does our political system look the way it does today?
Democracy is not a static concept, it is something we take part in every day.
Everything around us is designed to guide our behaviour, entice us or, conversely, exclude us. Our democracy is no exception. But how do design and politics shape each other? We explore that question in our temporary exhibition.
Together with the guide, you will discover how design helps democracy. You will learn how design not only makes something beautiful but also impactful. It is a tool for protest, activism and change. This guided tour makes you look at the world more consciously and helps you realise that you are not a passive user, but a designer helping to shape the world of tomorrow.
