Workshop
In this workshop, students become veritable designers. Having received a concrete design assignment, they set off through the museum rooms, examining the collection pieces not only for aesthetics, but also for surprising solutions to complex problems.
The real work starts back in the studio, where we go through several steps in a design process. There are no right or wrong ideas here, but also no ready-made answers. We challenge students to think big, experiment with materials: put your wildest ideas on paper, glue and fold with cardboard or model with clay. Don't be afraid of failure, because that's exactly where the best innovations are born!
What will you take home? A personal sketchbook full of wild ideas and your unique thought process. We will conclude the workshop by pitching each other's designs and showing how we see the world as designers.
Ik vrees dat dit nogal technisch overkomt. Het is zeker geen 'technische' workshop voor praktijkgerichte opleidingen. Het esthetische kan zeker ook een inspiratiebron zijn. Het is vooral een soort creatieve brainstorm, een uitnodiging om anders te denken, af te wijken van wat het meest voor de hand ligt, creativiteit prikkelen. 'Experimenteren met materialen' dat is bijvoorbeeld een idee schetsen met potlood op papier, of het knippen, plakken en vouwen in karton of het boetseren met klei... We moeten ervoor oppassen dat de leerkrachten niet denken dat ze in een soort van FabLab terecht gaan komen, want dat is het niet.
